This poor old desk had lived a hard life. She was disrespected with paints, stains and abraisive materials. There was no shortage of scratches, dings and peeling paint. I spent a day stripping and sanding it all down to it's bones, removing all the damage and letting her breathe. The following days were spent treating her well with General Finishes Gel Stain in Java. The buttery-smooth application was a new experience for me and one that insured I will not go back to sloppy messes that are included with traditional stains. After I fell madly in love with the stained top, I painted the body with chalk paint and screwed in hardware. She looks nothing like she did in the past but she is renewed with this stain and paint combo. She will be loved, not only for her beauty and body but also for her fresh personality and classic functionality.
